How many 25 kg rice bags fit in a 20ft container?

A 20ft container fits about 850–900 bags of 25 kg rice. That's roughly 21–22 metric tonnes — close to the weight limit.

850–900
25 kg woven PP bags (~65×40×15 cm)
Bags (25 kg)
850–900 bags
Total weight
~21,500 kg
Palletised
~800 bags
Container volume
33.1 m³

Weight is the limit

Rice is dense. 900 bags × 25 kg = 22,500 kg — already over the 21,770 kg payload limit. The practical maximum is about 860 bags to stay legal.

Bag stacking: Rice bags are flexible and conform to each other, achieving 85–90% volume utilisation when hand-stacked.

Palletised vs loose

Loose stacking fits more bags but takes longer to load/unload. Palletised loads (40 bags per euro pallet × 20 pallets) give ~800 bags but load in 30 minutes with a forklift.
